Rangeen Lab – Privacy Policy
The short version
- There is no account and no sign-in. We never ask for your name, phone number or email inside the app.
- We never sell your data.
- The game works offline. Your progress is saved on your phone.
- The app has no analytics or crash reporting tool of its own. It sends no game data to us.
- The app shows ads from Google AdMob. Google collects some device data to show and measure those ads.
- Purchases are handled by Google Play. We never see your card or UPI details.
- The app has no server of its own. We only see ad totals from AdMob, purchase order records from Google Play and any emails you send us.
1. Who we are
Rangeen Lab is made by Sparkplay Studio, the studio name of Mohd Aqib, an individual developer in India. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Mohd Aqib, trading as Sparkplay Studio. "The app" means Rangeen Laboratory: Color Sort for Android (called Rangeen Lab on your phone).
For any privacy question, write to support@sparkplaystudio.com.
2. What the app keeps on your phone
The app saves these things in its own storage on your phone. The app does not send them to us.
- Game progress: your current level, coins, boosters (Undo, +Flask, Peek, Shuffle), daily streak, daily quests, the stickers in your album, realm chests you opened, event progress and prizes, and the flask skins you own and use.
- The level you are playing: the app saves the board after every move, so you can carry on after closing the app.
- Settings: sound, music, haptics, colour-blind symbols, reduced motion and language.
- Purchases: whether you bought Remove Ads or the Starter pack, when your Rang Pass runs out, and the Google Play purchase codes ("tokens") of purchases already given to you. This stops a purchase being given twice.
- Ad and rating timing: when you last saw an ad between levels and how many levels you played since, so the app can keep ads spaced out. Also how many levels in a row you won without boosters and when the app last asked you to rate it, so it does not ask too often.
- Ad consent: if you saw Google's consent form, your answers are stored on the phone by Google's consent tool.
The app uses your phone's own clock for daily streaks, quests and events. It does not check the time over the internet.
Android backup
If you turned on Google backup on your phone, or when you move to a new phone with Android's transfer tool, Android may copy the app's saved data (including the items above) to your Google account backup. Android does this, not us. We cannot see your backup. You can turn backup off or delete backups in your phone's Settings and in your Google account.
3. What other companies collect
The app uses a few services from Google. These services collect some data directly from your phone. We do not receive this data about you as a person. We only see totals, such as how many ads were shown and how much they earned, and the purchase order records described below.
Google AdMob (ads)
What: your phone's advertising ID; the app set ID (used only for analytics and to stop fraud, never to personalise or measure ads); if you are signed in to an account on the phone (such as a Google account), other identifiers linked to that account; your IP address, which Google may use to guess your general area (city or region, not your exact place); how you use ads and the app (for example app opens, taps, ad views and clicks); app and ad performance data, including crash reports; and basic device details such as phone model, Android version, language and screen size. On newer Android phones, Android's own ad features (Privacy Sandbox) may also be used.
Why: to show ads (a banner on the Home screen, an ad between levels from level 5 on, and reward videos you choose to watch for an extra flask, double coins or extra undos), to measure them and for analytics, and to stop ad fraud. You never need to watch an ad to keep playing.
Shared with: Google, and the advertisers and ad partners Google works with.
Google and its third-party ad partners may place and read cookies and similar technologies, use web beacons, and collect your IP address and device identifiers, to collect information as a result of showing ads in the app.
Google's policy: How Google uses information from apps that use its services, How Google uses advertising data and the Google Privacy Policy.
We limit ads to content suitable for parental guidance (rated PG) or lower.
Google's consent tool (User Messaging Platform)
What: each time the app starts and is online, it asks Google whether your region needs a consent form. This request includes your IP address and basic device and app details. If you see the form, your answers are sent to Google and stored on your phone.
Why: to ask for and record your consent for ads where the law needs it, for example in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom and Switzerland.
Google's policy: Google Privacy Policy.
Google Play Billing (purchases)
What: when you tap to buy Remove Ads, a coin pack, the Starter pack or the Rang Pass, Google Play handles the payment with your Google account. Google Play gives the app only a confirmation of the purchase (your purchase history with this app). The app sends this back to Google Play to complete the purchase, and keeps the purchase code on your phone so that what you bought stays yours. When the app starts, and when you tap Restore purchases, it asks Google Play which purchases you own. Google Play's billing tool may also send its own technical logs to Google.
Why: to sell and deliver the purchase, and to restore Remove Ads, the Starter pack's Kalash flask skin and an active Rang Pass if you reinstall.
The Rang Pass is a monthly subscription. You can cancel it at any time in the Google Play app, under Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.
We never see your card, bank or UPI details. Google Play gives us order records (order number, date and time, product, price, device model, and the buyer's country and, in some countries, state, city and postcode) so we can handle refunds and taxes. These records do not include your name or payment details.
Google's policy: Google Payments Privacy Notice and the Google Privacy Policy.
Google Play in-app review (rating the game)
What: now and then, after you win a few levels in a row, the app asks if you enjoy it. If you tap to rate, Google Play shows its own rating window. Google Play handles your rating and any review you write, with your Google account. The app is not told whether you rated or what you wrote.
Why: so you can rate the game without leaving it.
Reviews you post on Google Play are public, as Google Play's own rules describe.
Google's policy: Google Privacy Policy.
What the app does not use
- No separate analytics or crash reporting tool (such as Google Analytics for Firebase or Crashlytics). Google's ad tool does collect data for its own analytics, as described above.
- No server of our own, no online leaderboard and no game data sent to us. The events and their leaderboard come with the app and work offline.
- No account, sign-in, chat or social features.
- No access to your exact location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or files. The app does not ask for these permissions.
- No notifications.
The app checks only whether other music is already playing on your phone, so its own music does not play over it. It does not read what is playing.
Links you open
In Settings you can open this policy and write an email to us. These open in your browser or email app. If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write, and we use it only to reply.
Data outside your country
Google may process this data on its servers in India and in other countries, including the United States. Google's policies explain how it protects data it moves.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, Google may move your data to the United States and other countries. Google relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss versions) and on Standard Contractual Clauses for this. We are in India: order records and any email you send us come to us in India. We use them only for the purposes in this policy.
4. Personalised ads and your choices
Personalised ads are ads Google picks based on your past activity. Here is how you can control them.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland
- When you first open the app, Google's consent form appears. You choose whether to allow personalised ads. No ad is requested before this choice.
- If you are under the age of digital consent in your country (16 in most EEA countries, 13 in the UK), ask a parent or guardian before you answer, or choose not to allow personalised ads.
- To change your choice later, open Settings > Privacy options (in Hindi: सेटिंग्स > निजता विकल्प) in the app. Your new choice applies to the next ads the app loads.
- If you say no, you may still see ads, but they are not personalised.
Everywhere else (including India)
- Ads may be personalised. You usually do not see a consent form.
- If the law in your region gives you a choice about ads (for example in some US states), Settings > Privacy options appears, where you can see Google's message and change your choice. The row only appears where Google's consent tool says it is needed.
- You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's Settings. On most phones it is Settings > Google > Ads, or Settings > Privacy > Ads. The exact menu depends on your phone.
- On newer Android phones you can also turn off Android's ad features under Settings > Privacy > Ads privacy (or similar).
- You can manage ad personalisation for your Google account at My Ad Center.
Remove Ads and the Rang Pass
If you buy Remove Ads, or while your Rang Pass is active, the app stops showing the Home banner and ads between levels. Reward videos stay. You only see one when you choose to watch it, but the app still loads one in the background so it is ready. Google's ad tools therefore keep collecting the data described above, as they do without Remove Ads.
5. Children
The app is meant for people aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. Even so, we limit ads to content rated PG or lower.
If you are a parent and you think your child under 13 used the app, contact us at support@sparkplaystudio.com. Apart from purchase order records and emails, we hold no data about players, so we will explain how to delete the data on the phone and point you to Google's tools for the data Google holds.
In India, the law treats people under 18 as children. If you are under 18, please use the app with the knowledge of a parent or guardian.
6. How long data is kept, and deleting it
- On your phone: data stays until you delete it. To delete the data on your phone, go to Settings > Apps > Rangeen Lab > Storage > Clear storage in your phone's settings, or uninstall the app. This deletes your progress, coins and boosters on the phone. The app has no "delete my data" button of its own.
- Google backup: a copy may stay in your Google account backup until Android replaces it or you delete it. If backup is on, Android may put the saved data back when you reinstall the app. To stop this, delete the app's backup in your Google account.
- Google AdMob, the consent tool and in-app review: Google keeps this data as its own policies say (links above). We cannot see or delete it ourselves. You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time.
- Purchases: Google Play keeps your purchase records with your Google account. If you reinstall, you can get Remove Ads, the Starter pack's Kalash flask skin and an active Rang Pass back with Settings > Restore purchases (in Hindi: सेटिंग्स > पिछली ख़रीद वापस लाएँ). Coins and boosters, including those from coin packs and the Starter pack, are kept only on the phone, so clearing the app's data removes them.
- With us: the app has no server, and we hold no profile about you. If you buy something, Google Play gives us an order record (no payment details). We keep order records for as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires, then delete them. We keep emails you send us for up to 12 months after your question is solved. Ask us and we will delete them sooner.
7. Security
- All data Google's tools send over the internet uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). The app itself sends nothing of its own.
- Data on your phone is kept in the app's private storage. Android keeps other apps out of it.
- There are no passwords and no account to hack.
No method is perfectly safe, but we try to collect as little as we can.
8. Your rights
Players in India
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:
- ask what personal data about you is processed, and with whom it is shared;
- ask for your data to be corrected, completed, updated or erased;
- withdraw consent you gave. In India the app does not show a consent form. To stop personalised ads, delete your advertising ID (on most phones Settings > Google > Ads > Delete advertising ID) or turn off ad personalisation in My Ad Center;
- have a complaint (grievance) answered by us;
- name another person to use these rights for you if you die or cannot act.
Please send any complaint to us first (see Contact). We will answer within 30 days. If we do not solve it, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India, through the Board's online complaint process.
Players in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland
Under the GDPR, the UK GDPR and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP), you have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to limit or object to its use, to receive a copy of it, and to withdraw your consent at any time (use Settings > Privacy options). Where the law needs consent, such as for personalised ads, we ask through Google's form. For the rest, such as stopping ad fraud, we rely on our legitimate interest in running a working and fair game. For purchases, we use order records to deliver what you bought and to handle refunds (to perform our contract with you), and we keep them as Indian tax law requires (legal obligation). For emails you send us, we rely on our legitimate interest in answering you. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office; in Switzerland, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner).
How to use your rights
Write to support@sparkplaystudio.com. We will reply within 30 days. Apart from order records and emails, we do not have your data on our own systems, so for most requests we will explain how to use the phone settings and Google's tools described above. For data Google holds, you can also go to Google directly through its privacy policy.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example when the app changes. We will post the new version on this page and change the effective date at the top. If a change is important, we will also say so in the app's Google Play listing.
